The Reserve Unit is made up of commissioned Reserve Deputies and non-commissioned Auxiliary Personnel. All members of this unit are volunteers. The purpose of this unit is to work side-by-side with full-time employees and assist with all law enforcement activities as directed by the Sheriff. All Reserve Deputies must have successfully completed a minimum of six hundred hours of criminal justice training approved by the State of Missouri. All Reserve Unit members work a minimum of 20 hours per month and must attend the monthly meeting & training session. |

The Mounted Posse was originated and chartered in June of 1947. They serve at the pleasure of the Sheriff of Jackson County as a horse mounted unit. |
|
Several of the members are certified Jackson County officers having completed the necessary training and range qualifications. |
